Link Exchanges
Building traffic is something every webmaster must do. While
getting into search engines is the most obvious way, the
best way is to set up link exchanges with other similar
sites. Link exchanges increase the flow of new visitors
to your site as well as improve your search engine placement.
(Most of today's search engines take into account the number
and quality of sites that link to yours.)
You should search to find sites to exchange links with that
are similar to yours. Further more the sites you mail to
exchange links with should have about the same level of
traffic as yours. If your site is very new and only gets
a few visitors per day it is unlikely that a site that gets
thousands of visitors per day will link to yours. However
they may link to your site despite your traffic level if
you provide unique and helpful content that their visitors
would appreciate.
The mail you send to the webmaster of the website you'd
like to exchange links with can look something like this:
Hello, I own mywebsite.com a site similar to yours about
bla bla bla, I wanted to know if you would like to exchange
links. I can add your link to my site on mywebsite.com/links.html.
Please let me know if you are interested.
You may want to also include a description to be used in
conjunction with the link if aplicable, or perhaps the address
of a small icon to be used for linking.
